Another 400000 t/a capacity- new material unique

On December 26, Liaoning Dingjide Petrochemical Co., Ltd. announced the wholly-owned subsidiary’s investment in the construction of the POE high-end new material project. The project information is as follows:

Project name: POE high-end new material project (tentative name)

Construction site: the project is proposed to be built in Xianren Island Economic and Technological Development Zone, Yingkou City

Construction content and scale: build supporting storage and transportation facilities, circulating water field, and power transformation. And then the distribution room, central control room, comprehensive office building, boiler room and other utilities and auxiliary facilities as required. Phase II is mainly to build a 200000 t/a POE complex and 250000 t/a carbonate unit.

Source of funds: self-raised funds, bank loans, etc.

Project progress: The construction period of this project is 5 years. (At present, it is still in the project preparation stage)

The announcement shows that the POE complex α- Although the process is a mature process package. Similar units in China are still in the stage of engineering design but they have not been built and put into operation, and there are no units of similar scale in operation. Therefore, there are certain process technology uncertainties in the project commissioning and subsequent operation.

Now Dingjiede is throwing tens of billions into the POE war. Is it unique or crazy?

Among foreign-funded enterprises, such as Dow, ExxonMobil, LG, SABIC-SK, Mitsui Chemical and Nordic Chemical

The POE capacity has exceeded 2 million tons/year.

According to other data, China’s POE consumption in 2021 will be about 640000 tons, an increase of 8.47% year on year. Maintaining this growth rate to 2025, it will be no more than a million tons. At present, China’s planned capacity of POE has reached nearly 2.3 million tons/per year.

As for how the pattern of POE will evolve in the future, they will not know whether enterprises can break out of the tight encirclement until 2025!
